Spring Schedule Update

Like last season, both JV and Varsity will be playing in an all-day outdoor pre-season soccer tournament at GVSU on Saturday, March 24 (just before our first official game on that following Monday @ Jenison). This is a required and super valuable event for all girls. Will get you further details when they are provided to me by the host site!

Upcoming Week (Clarification)

REALLY looking forward to this coming week, girls. I'm super confident we can do some some damage--of course, with the right mentality and physical performance!

Here's some clarification for the upcoming (tentative) week:

**Monday: 5-7 PM practice on the game field...wear gray.
**Tuesday: home game vs. Allendale (5 PM)...bring your own "pregame meal/beverage"...meet in my room at 2:45 PM.
**Wednesday (if applicable): 6-8 PM practice at Saugatuck High turf field....wear black.
**Thursday (if applicable): game at Holland vs. Holland (7 PM)...more details to come.
**Friday (if applicable): 6-8 PM practice (perhaps earlier) at Saugatuck High turf field...wear gray.
**Saturday (if applicable): game at Holland vs. ??? (noon)...more details to come.

**Thursday: practice 3-4 PM (Graduation Night)...wear gray.
**Friday: practice 3-4:45 PM...wear black. 
**Monday, May 29 (Memorial Day): practice 5-7 PM on the game field...wear gray.

Upcoming Week

Ladies, I argue that this week is perhaps our toughest week of the season yet: three games, good competition, nearing the end of the season, handling distractions, somehow staying fresh, etc.

BUT I'm really confident that we WILL handle it all somehow successfully. We have been trending up in multiple areas...and will continue to do so if we all stay together and keep our collective eyes on the prize(s).

Here goes with the tentative schedule for the week:

**Monday: game at Holland Christian...bus leaves at 3 PM (meet on the bus fully dressed minus cleats as we PLAY FIRST AT 4 PM)...Grace = team meal (after the game)/video...wear "Hail" shirts in school.
**Tuesday: game at Black River...meet in my room at 2:45 PM...bus leaves at 3:15...Leah = team meal/video.
**Wednesday: 3-5 PM training...wear black.
**Thursday: 3:15-5:15 training...wear gray.
**Friday: home game vs. T.K....meet in my room at 3 PM...Justine = team meal/video...Taryn/Kora = ball girls.
**Saturday: 5 v. 5 outdoor tournament! More on this to come.

Way to gut out an important in-conference victory last night, ladies. Defensively, we allowed little and offensively probably deserved more on the scoreboard. But a win is a win!

Way to bounce back from a bit of adversity as Holland closed in on the scoreboard in the second half with two unanswered goals tonight to win tonight, ladies--a very mature way to handle the match.

After a slow start, I loved the way we responded in the second half of this contest, girls...especially after a tough break late in the game when Hopkins tied it up. Way to bounce back!

We certainly gave Unity a scare last night, girls. Really liked how we stayed feisty and battling until the end. Nice job in that department against a tough team.

Well, ladies, time to finally get back to a bit of normalcy now that last week's crazy schedule is behind us, we've gotten some training under our belt after Spring Break, and we're firmly in the OK Green conference portion of our season schedule!

**Tuesday: 3:15-5:15 training...wear gray...TEAM DINNER AT COACH TANJA'S @ 5:30!
**Wednesday: home game vs. H. Christian...meet in my classroom by 3 PM...Maddie = food/video...Leah/Justine = ball girls. What to wear in school = TBD.
**Thursday: 3:15-5:15 training...wear black.
**Friday: 3:15-5:15 training...wear gray.

All things considering, ladies, job well done today at Hastings!

The season is young, and we have a lot of improvements to make. But, as a coach, i'm certainly very excited about this team and where we can go.

Have a great, safe, fun, productive (conditioning, ball touches, etc.) Spring Break!

Good Start!

After a pair of GVSU preseason scrimmage wins yesterday -- 4-1 over Greenville and 9-0 over Kenowa Hills-- it's easy to be encouraged! As mentioned, the season is young though, and it's on all of us to continually work to get better in all facets.

Looking forward to doing just that!

**Tuesday, March 21: JV volunteer work 2:45-5 PM/Varsity training 3-5 PM (wear gray)

**Wednesday, March 22: Varsity volunteer work 2:45-5 PM/JV 3:15-5:15 PM training (wear black)...Parent Meeting at 6:30 beginning in the HS cafe and ending in my classroom for Varsity parents. JV parents will end in the HS Forum Room with Coach Hoffman.

**Thursday, March 23: outdoor training 3:15-5:15 PM (wear gray)

**Friday, March 24: outdoor training 3:15 - 5:15 PM (wear black)

**Saturday, March 25: JV/Varsity GVSU preseason exhibition tournament (more details to come!)

**Monday, March 27: outdoor training 3:15-5:15 PM (wear black)

**Tuesday, March 28: outdoor training 3:15 - 5:15 PM (wear gray)...Varsity team dinner at the Robinsons' 5:30-6:30 PM.

**Note: For all away games, JV and Varsity players are required to ride the team bus to and from the venue. For home games, JV players are required to view at least one half of the varsity contest. Thanks for understanding the need to support each other and continue to build relationships!

Another Change!

Just found out that the T.K. game is now May 19th and not May 12th! Roll with the punches, yes? :)

Season Schedule Changes

Please take note:

**The pre-Spring Break game vs. T.K. is now changed to Friday, May 12.

**The JV team will now participate with the Varsity team (on the same day in their own separate scrimmages) in the Saturday, March 25 tournament at G.V.S.U. More details to come!
