  1. Coach's comment...

Vince Lombardi, Hayley! Nice choice! He's FULL of great thoughts...easily one of the greatest coaches of all time (Green Bay Packers...old school). I'm very interested to hear what the other girls have to say....

  3. I think this is saying that we all are capable of being mentally tough but we have to choose to do it.

    Great Quote Hayley!

  4. Rae's comment...

While i was in California last summer, we played out on the turf from 8:30 to about 5:30 with an hour and a half break for lunch. We were playing during the major heat waves/fires that swept through Cali, so it was about 85-95degrees and I was complaining on how hot it was. I remember perfectly one of the coachs( Jase an old, ex Chelsea player or something that has played through it all.) telling me "its all pysocological Raelyn...your feet aren`t blistered and hurting and its not hot out. Its all in your mind, ignore it...its all psychological." As hard as that was to ignore all the physical stuff around me or happening to me, we have to. We need to put up a wall of mental toughness and we should be great! Remember- its all psychological!!!

nice quote hailey....i totally agree that we need to put up a wall of mental toughness if we want to beat the other teams...even when it seems hard or when we want to give up...we cant we have to keep pushing through and be mantally tough.

  6. we need to be mentally tough if we are going to be physically tough. otherwise, we won't be winning any more games. we need to be tough!!

  7. This is almost what coach has been telling us. If we beleive we can do it we can, if we believe we won't get hurt we won't, if we believe we'll lose we will(So lets not think that).

  8. Have you guys heard of the mothers who are able to lift cars off their children to save them? It seems impossible to do, but their will alone enables them to do it! This is exactly what this quote means! Our bodies are designed in every way to serve our brains, and if we want to do something we can!

  9. Awesome quote Hailey! It's like when there's a 50-50 ball: we know we can get that ball, we can sprint full out towards it and get it, we want it. But in our mind, towards the end when we're almost to the ball you may start thinking "I can't do this...this is gonna hurt..." or whatever. You have "...a body that can stand most anything..." but when you get closer to the ball it's "...your mind you have to convince." We're all able to do it, it's the mental part we have to overcome. As of late a lot of us have put our bodies through a lot as we make fearless plays all over the field (especially against the scrappy Wyoming Park team Wednesday night). We have to keep it up and stay positive! Listen to the good bird, we can do it ladies!

Hayley I Love this quote. It is so true, I think that it goes good with our timeing now that we need to get through the mental part of our last few games and know that we can do this and we'll have an easier time with it.

  12. Wow, great comments, all of you...especially the Vandenbil sisters...nice thoughts! Now, can we put all of this INTO PRACTICE?!!

  13. awesome!!!!! i think that this quote says a lot about how we should play. we need use our bodies for the game and if that means to make sacrifices then we should do so. it is important to know what your body can handle, but it is also important to ush yourself as far as it is healthy to.

  14. Thats so true. If we tell ourselves that we can do it and give 100%...most likely we will accomplish what we are doing.

  15. Raelyn, that is a great piece of advice to go with this inspiring quote! I do that sometimes, like when we're doing our laps and my shins start burning, I look to see how far we've gone so far then I think to how far we have left and I get a new burst of energy because I know that the hard thing is almost over. It's what we should all do in a time where we have to do something we just "can't" do. We need to push through the bad stuff, like a tough practice, to enjoy the fun, rewarding stuff, like a well-deserved win. Mental toughness like we talked about tonight today ladies, let's give Kelloggsville a run for their money!

  16. This is so true we are all capable of handling the physical part. Once we can convince our minds that we CAN DO THIS we will be unstoppable.

Good quote Hayle! This reminds me of an old saying " we can accomplish anything if we put our minds to it." Which goes along with your quote. Even though we know we can accomplish something our mind will tell us otherwhise. It takes a mentally tough person to block those thoughts out.
