Brandi's TEAM quotation

“A champion is someone who does not settle for that day's practice, that day's competition, that day's performance. They are always striving to be better. They don't live in the past.”
-Briana Scurry (former U.S. Women's National Team goalkeeper and World Cup winner)

  1. Its like we've been talking about where people don't remember who scored that shot or missed it, They remember if that game was won or lost.Putting the past behind. Also improving.

  2. This quote really says it all! If we walk away from practice or a game completely satisfied with our performance then we'll never improve. We need to think to ourselves, I need to give more effort next time, or I have to shoot low. At the same time, though, we can't dwell on bad passes or off shots we made. Realize mistakes are all a part of the game and it's not soccer without them.

  3. If you settle solely on one practice, one game, or that one performance, you will never get better because you aren't striving or wanting to be better. It's like the short-term memory thing. You can't live in the past of it all because then you'll focus on that and you'll get yourself down! You have to live in the moment!!

  4. Ladies, we NEED to be champions! It's like coach told us after try-outs, "don't be happy with JV". We all strive in a game to beat our opponents, but do we strive at every practice? Did we strive at bowling on Friday even though it was a different type of practice? I think that question is something you need to answer honestly for yourself. Sometimes, I think we, myself included, don't always strive unless there is some type of reward. I know that I get a lot more upset about missing a goal if there is a consequence to losing. I work harder when I know there's something to be gained from a drill immediately, not just in the long-run. This is, more often than not,a bad thing. It introduces you to bad habits, habits that are hard to break. So, my solution? Strive 24/7! Strive in school, driving, soccer, friends, relationships. . . Make continuous strides to be better, and you will become better. It all goes back to visualizing. . .

I love this one!! I like how it talks about not living in the past like coach always says and I know that can be hard sometimes. But we have to live for the for whats next and strive to be better.

  7. I love the quote Brandi and great comments ladies! We all know we can't change the past so we need to work on the present and do our best then (and if we do, we might feel better about the past that it becomes- but we can't EVER be satisfied). Use what has happened as a motivation, learn from those mistakes, but know that what we do in the present will affect the future and can outshine anything that may have occured in the past. Make the present into a past that you're proud of! Work hard now!

  8. That is so true Brandi. I think it fits our team well right now. We are toward the end of our season and we dont have time to just settle for things. We need to work hard in practice, games, and in everyday life. If we do this, we will have success.

We cant dwell on the past as hard as that might be. We gotta strive to be the best that we can be. We all know are roles on the team and its definently now time that we become champions in our roles!

  10. i think that we have done a great job with this!! we know that we can improve, and we remember that we have to think about what is going on right at that moment, not the last play or game or practice. i think we should keep workaing on this, because it is difficult, but we can do it! W.I.N.: WHATS IMPORTANT NOW!

Brandi, good quote choice! It pretty much says it all right there. We all have improved this year and that's good, but we need to keep pushing to be the very best we can possibly be. It will help in the long run, even outside of soccer.
