Liz Vandenbil's QUOTATION and comment...

“No-one gets an iron-clad guarantee of success. Certainly, factors like opportunity, luck and timing are important. But the backbone of success is usually found in old-fashioned, basic concepts like hard work, determination, good planning and perseverance.”

~Mia Hamm

and I have a comment on it:

"Ladies, we know that anything can happen in a soccer game at any time. Going into a game anyone can win, no matter what the outcome is expected to be. We need to go out there and give it our all, keep those concepts of hard work, determination, planning, and perserverance, and if we do that then it doesn't matter what the outcome is. If we keep these in mind and actually do them then we went out and gave it our all and at the end of the day that's all we can do. There're some factors that can come into any game that we can't control. We've had a great season ladies! Let's finish strong and leave it all on the field Wednesday!"

  2. Nice job liz! That pretty much sums up everything coach has been telling us. If we remember the little things like hard work, determination, planning, and perserverence we have a good chance at a win, even to a more talented team than us.

  3. This is so true! Nothing is ever guaranteed in soccer. And if we do everything that we know how to do and do it with 100% effort then we can have like Shelby said a good chance at beating a more talented team.

  4. What this is basically saying is that everything goes back to the basics. Without good control, you can't pass well and if you can't pass well you won't have as many chances at the goal.

  6. Hey ladies, okay, last round of quotes, let's make 'em count. Liz picked a very fitting quote, I think, just seeing who the team we are playing tomorrow is. Last time we played East, we tied. The goal was made by Emily and it was a good shot, but it had a little help. . . if you remember, the ball hit a bad spot in the ground which made it harder for the keeper to get. Instances like this can lead to success. . . or failure, all depending on the time and place. We need to expect these quirks of the game, but not count on them. We should be able to perform and win without having to rely on them. Let's get out there and prove to East, our families, our school, and most importantly, ourselves, that we can do it. Let's go ladies!

It's true. Going into a game with confidence, hard work, determination, planning, and perseverance, will most likely result in a win. However, if it doesn't happen, at least we showed everyone our mental and physical skills and abilities. Being able to believe in ourselves and our teammates has truly helped us this season and will continue to in the future. There are
definitely some factors that we can't control such as timing and luck. But tomorrow, lets finish up our last game with a positive attitude, determination, and togetherness. We've had a great season this year and we deserve this win!

Awesome quote, Billy! That is very true. Success comes from a lot things, but mostly they come from hard labor, a ton of determination, perseverance, and good planning to see us through to the end...which is something we need in soccer.
